February 2012

Posted March 1, 2012

The month of January whizzed by and February is already here. The students have transitioned back from winter break and are absorbing all that is being discussed in their classrooms.

The Grammy’s will be held in Los Angeles on February 12. For the first time, 4th graders will visit the GRAMMY Museum, in downtown Los Angeles, this month. The GRAMMY Museum explores and celebrates the enduring legacies of all forms of music; the creative process; the art and technology of the recording process; and the history of the Grammy Awards. GRAMMY Museum exhibits have delved into the careers of artists from Elvis to Andre Bocelli. The children are sure to enjoy this educational and fun trip. We extend a special thanks to the Field Trip Committee for making the arrangements.

Valentine’s Day presents an opportunity to tell those that we care about that they are special to us. What better way to show your love to someone than with an adorable teddy bear or delicious brownie? The Lycée High School students will have a teddy bear and brownie sale on the Elementary School campus on Monday, February 13. Children will have the opportunity to purchase items during lunch and after school. Proceeds will benefit the high school.

On Tuesday, February 14, students can show their Valentine’s Day spirit by accessorizing their uniforms with red. Please note, this is not a free dress day. Students should wear the uniform according to their normal schedule (traditional, sports, or casual), but may add red accents (hair clips, socks, sweaters) to celebrate the day.
