Earth Lovers in Middle School
Posted April 26, 2012
On Earth Day, the Middle School students enjoyed games organized by the Student Council. They really made recycling look fun!
They collected the caps of all the plastic bottles drunk on campus as well as the paper from the recycling paper bin for a period of two weeks. It was for the “Guess How Many” game. And guess what? We (sadly) collected 391 bottle caps and 11.24 pounds of paper. We made it our goal to promote reusable containers on campus!
During one of the games, students had to dispatch 50 items as fast as possible in the appropriate trashcan: paper, plastic/metal, trash. The three fastest players won a free dress. Elisa Gourlet (6A3) had the record with 40 seconds.
In another game, students had to transport as many recycling items as possible in 20 seconds from one bin to another; this was extremely entertaining to watch! In total, twelve lucky students won a free dress.
Did we mention that we also had a wall of pledges?
Middle School students embrace earth day and turn it into a week!
