A nest of green turtles that is. Each year Zachary Tower and his mother Alexandra Tower - Prof of Environmental Biology- adopt an endangered species as a holiday gift to the class.
Class of CM2-6 Adopted a Nest
Prof Tower then visits the classroom and talks about the life, habitat, threats, conservation efforts and more. She brings a plush toy so that the children can connect better with the animal. Over the years, they have adopted a gray wolf, a snow leopard, a snowy owl, a black panther, and a manatee.
This year, they adopted a Green Sea Turtle nest in an area off of the coast of Sabah, Borneo. The nest has 71 eggs, and the baby turtles are due to emerge on New Year’s Eve, 2017. Prof Tower will send a photo of their babies at the return from winter break. The students are very excited to learn and to share their personal experiences with the class. The group that manages these particular conservation efforts is the Reef Guardian of Malaysia http://reefguardian.com.my/
